The build up to the next campaigns in both IC-Arma and CFArma2 is beginning. In the next few weeks we will start building up the backstory. The reports made by the ANN news team that the ARA army has been using foreign private military contractors are not surprising. My first article on Alameda relayed the news about the black hole in the Presidents accounting that led to the discovery of a huge potential war fund. The fact that this money was (and still is) used to procure over seas military equipment to help fund the ARA war machine is frustrating both the US and European governments. The assets seized by the ARA are mainly oil and precious mineral facilities located in Chernarus. Unfortunately Chernarus is currently in a state of destabilization and attempts are hampered by 90 percent of the assets falling into territory currently belonging to the ChDKZ a pro communist movement. Attempts by the US Foreign Secretary to broker a deal with the ChDKZ leadership have failed to reach any form of agreement. Sources close to the investigation have implied that the money is changing through organisations and countries outside the UN or US influence. The naming of the Private Military Company by the ANN throws up more questions than can possibly be answered by this humble reporter. Shashka operate out of Chernarus…… a coincidence that they have operatives in Alameda working with the ARA?

The news from Annaba is scant – all that I can gather is that many have died from the release of an unknown pathogen into the water table, whether this was orchestrated by the ARA or Shaskira is yet to be determined. The ARA leadership have strongly denied any knowledge of the events in Annaba and it looks like they are trying to distance themselves from any connections to Shashka, this may prove difficult if Shashka are connected to the Chernarus assets somehow.

I’ve been in contact with Pof John Hipwell (a former MEDUSA committee member and WMD expert). Hipwell lead a joint risk assessment into the Chernarus Nuclear programme when the country became unstable in 2005. I asked him what he thought about the reports coming out of Alameda and whether anyone in Chernarus has the both the facilities and knowledge to produce gas, toxins or chemical WMD’s.
Well in 2005 when we went in, the main plant reactor (Nuclear) was being decommissioned and we were quite happy to let that continue under the supervision of the French engineers sent from the UN. There was a considerable amount of Yellowcake in Chernarus but since the country lacked the capability of refining it further (to enable its use in a bomb) we focussed on looking at the industrial capabilities in Chernarus capable of being converted into plants for reprocessing or manufacturing chemical agents. Most of the complexes we visited were beyond this level of operation, either through lack of equipment and resources or because they had been so severely damaged that it would take considerable finances and expertise to get them running again. However there were two plants we were unable to access as these were out of the scope of the investigation.
I asked the Professor to explain why
Well both these plants were operated by TriCell a Multinational company supplying pharmaceuticals to the military of several governments and the open market. We were told in no uncertain terms to stay away. Of course all this was in the report we submitted at the end of the investigation.
So baring these two complexes you reported that the capabilities in Chernarus were less than?
Oh we said less than one percent – which basically told them they needn’t worry. Of course that was four years ago and from what I’ve seen no other team has been allowed in since, of course if someone with a lot of money wanted to use Chernarus to manufacture WMD’s then its plausible.
After I left Prof Hipwell I did some digging on TriCell, it acquired a security firm in 2006. Shashka International.
***Breaking News*** BPA Attack Fails. ARA Invades UN Base and Declares New Government.
Battle 8 saw the BPA counterattack come to a quick halt around the town of Vesoul. The ARA launched a full scale armoured attack on the town with the Dragons executing a well planned operation circling the town quickly eliminating the BPA armour who were outgunned, outmanned and outsmarted. The real titanic struggle began when Bravo squad infantry flooded into the town supported by Alpha. A common recurring thread throughout this war has been the battle between a mere infantry squad and the steel beasts. It was unfortunate for Bravo squad that for all their camaraderie, courage, bravery and skill, the battle became a massacre.
We managed to interview a few members of Bravo and Dragon. [BPA]B-Pfc.Kya told us about the face off,
“They are the threat you have to take seriously. Well trained and very experienced, urban combat is what they live for.”
However [BPA]B-Cpl.Foxhound had a more optimistic view,
“It will be difficult to stop the ARA from succeeding but there is still time to turn the campaign around. Only thanks to their high commands strategic decisions do they gain the upper hand, receiving better support from other units.”
[ARA]3rd-MSgt.Tongeh reflected,
“It went very well for us. The 3rd and 5th worked well together to cover and secure landing zones allowing for some key troop drops around Vesoul. We repelled the BPA armour very easily as they rarely posed a threat. However the BPA still gave us a good fight although I’m quietly confident their end is near.”
Commanding officer of Dragon, Cpt.Russin told us,
“Everything went to plan. I felt a key moment was when we ambushed two Abrams tanks attacking Vesoul. They never knew what hit them! 3rd Armour brought their A game to the table this week though, a well oiled killing machine preventing the BPA from gaining any significant footholds in the sector.”
With the BPA army once again retreating, General Scarecrow took the time to release a press statement. In it he detailed how he had setup a new government in Laconia for the Northern Republic of Alameda and that the ARA flag would soon be raised above the Government Chambers in Unity when he incorporates the South into the republic as well. The peace movement which had been gaining momentum over the past few weeks has completely dissipated after the biochemical attack last week. The country is gripped by fear and very few are willing to challenge General Scarecrows authority. Although the war is not over, the ARA holds a majority of the land in Alameda.
In a move to prove his point, during Battle 9 the ARA invaded the UN base in a move designed to force out any international interference. The UN forces gave a good fight but were ultimately lost amongst the major outbreaks of fighting along the eastern coast. The ARA was determined to launch a blisteringly fast blitzkrieg along the eastern coast in move designed to strike at the BPA HQ at Capon Airport. For a while the fighting was very even and very intense. Towns were completely levelled as non-stop artillery fell amongst the tanks locked in a fierce engagement. Infantry on both sides deployed newly developed tactics involving a grenade launching GAZ providing a creeping barrage as infantry followed in its wake, clearing the dense forests and entrenched towns ahead. Intense fighting took place inside a dense forest on the outskirts of the zone, trees exploding and shattering above the heads of advancing infantry.
The ARA advance was certainly not a blitzkrieg, but they quickly gained an advantage and ultimately broke the BPA. The BPA was forced to retreat conceding yet another territory. The BPA has run out of resources and many believe the ARA need only conduct a sweeping up operation to complete its hold on Alameda. Swathes of the country have declared allegiance to the ARA, too afraid to stand against them. BPA leaders still say it is still not over but if they fail against the next ARA offensive, many believe the war will be over. We have also learned from an ARA source that Special Forces are planning to raid a bunker in the coming week believed to be the hideout of the BPA High command.
The international community has fallen silent, held hostage by threats of more chemical attacks from Shashka International. There are reports that River Stone Inc will be launching an attack on the Russian mercenary stronghold in Chernarus in the coming weeks. Over the past few weeks the world has watched the situation in Alameda unravel but no one could have guessed the far reaching effects the conflict would have on the rest of the world. The American News Network has been working tirelessly over the last few weeks reporting on the conflict and uncovering a vital conspiracy which we can now reveal. There were queries as to how the BPA and ARA could successfully wage such a large scale war when the world is in such economic disarray. There were also questions as to how both armies were so well trained as previously the OMA (One Alamedian Army) was so undisciplined and would have been unable to pull off the high risk operation which resulted in the assassination of President Bruno St. Vincent, the trigger of the conflict.
Earlier this week several of our reporters who were held hostage by the ARA, who seized the ANN building in Annaba as a bold move to allow them to broadcast propaganda, were released as the ARA were forced to retreat from the region. They told us that their captors were not all from Alameda; in fact several were Russian mercenaries. We previously told you how we caught [ARA]3rd-Cpt.Russin on tape taunting his victims, however the recording goes on to reveal that the mercenary team he was working with is called Shashka International. Upon further investigation we discovered a dark and twisted story of corruption, torture and terrorism. Before the war began we ran a story on http://ic-arma.net/wander about a scandal where 750 million dollars worth of overseas assets were seized by President Vincent’s government. We followed a paper trail disclosing transactions which led right back to Shashka International. When war broke out the BPA and ARA made use of all this to buy their equipment meaning this Russian company is responsible for funding the entire civil war.
What was worse is that last week as the ARA retreated their heinous war crimes were revealed. The WHO (World Health Organisation) has become involved after the BPA called for aid as a humanitarian crisis was developing; countless civilians became sick and ultimately died. The WHO made the startling discovery that the deaths were the result of a deadly and very lethal pathogen, a pathogen deployed into the water from the basement of a house in Drayden. Shashka International had engineered the destabilisation of Alameda in order to test and develop a biochemical weapon. Thankfully it is thought to have been the only one in a deployable state so there won’t be further use of biochemical weapons in the conflict.
The USA acted immediately upon the discovery of this intelligence and is the reason for the deployment of the US Carrier Force late last night. However to our surprise the army on board was an American Private Military Company called River Stone Inc. They have been sent to find out what Shashka International is up to and put an end to it. The national community is in uproar with America and Russia opposing each other causing the UN talks to come to a complete halt, thus the use of PMCs.
The world is on the brink of conflict yet again, but worse still, our sources inside the US administration have revealed that Shashka International bases it operations from the currently destabilised country of Chernarus. It is believed that this is where the pathogen is being developed and where the leaders of the PMC are based. If this is true, the region could explode into conflict in a similar style to Alameda. We will have to wait and watch whether it does. Late last night a new BPA operation got underway as they regrouped their forces and launched a full scale counterattack on the ARA strongholds in Western Alameda. The attack was swift, focused and effective as the BPA proved it was still a contender, pouring out from the shadows of the night. Artillery batteries provided cover fire and bought time for the airborne infantry which flooded the skies to get into position. Bravo paratroopers fell to the ground whilst other squads came in for dramatic landings in choppers. BPA commando units quickly got to work in setting up a blackout by destroying the lighthouse and many streetlights. Enemy snipers and tanks were hindered as they could no longer see their targets inside the occupied towns. Air and armoured divisions soon arrived to take up over watch positions engaging with and scoring vital victories against the ARA opposition. Not since the opening of the war has the BPA pulled off such a stunning opening move.
The ARA had no choice but to retreat leaving behind them, evidence of the sheer corruption that plagues it high command. The peace movement in the west had been brutally suppressed and a humanitarian crisis has been declared by the BPA who have appealed to the UN for help dealing with the matter. Also sources told us that other classified information has caused the USA to deploy a carrier fleet off the shore of Southern Alameda. Although the USA denies it will take any action without UN approval, pressure has been mounting for peace and disarmament. There was further international uproar when UN officials in a jeep trying to offer help to civilians caught up in the fighting to the north were fired upon by ARA troops.
The BPA continued to strive forward and after intense street fighting another Zulu fell under their control. Bravo squad stormed Annaba and managed to secure the ANN building releasing all the hostages safely. The reporters are currently being debriefed after a traumatic experience. There was much excitement in the ranks of the BPA as they brought the war back to a level playing field. Such a victory as this would mean that in the coming weeks they would be well poised to decimate other ARA strongholds in the centre of Alameda which were now cut off. Unfortunately General Scarecrow was not ready to give up the fight. Reports tell us he shot a nearby aide in his rage and badly injured other members of his high command when he went bezerk and started firing a pistol across his command bunker. Terrified ARA officers then managed to launch an armoured counterattack in the dying moments of the battle preventing the advancing BPA army from setting up any secure positions.

In the final hour we stormed through the region forcing back the BPA.
The ARA then managed to re-secure the most northern zone but at great personal cost whilst the battle was still considered a defeat as the BPA had gained the most ground overall.
We managed to interview [ARA]4th-Cpl.Terea who told us,
The battle was pretty intense. I am part of the 4th Brigade, Combat Recon. My task was basically to hunt enemy special forces. During the second hour we engaged several enemy operatives gathering Intel on our movements. I took a couple out and was awarded the “Silver Combat Badge”. The intensity only increased in hour three, when our combat recon brigade was reassigned to help the counterattack. The BPA might have punched us in the face, but we at least slapped them right back. It was a hard and demanding battle.
There is a growing consensus that the end of the war is not far away. Both armies have expended countless resources and lack the manpower to keep the engagement going for much longer than 3 weeks. Although the BPA did receive a few replacements to bolster its ranks for this offensive it is believed that even if they do win the war there will be a lack of resources to maintain security for a post-war government. On General Scarecrow’s orders the open broadcast centre for the ANN was attacked by teams of Special Forces who took hostage several well known reporters. The ARA have taken control of the building and have begun a propaganda regime which is being broadcasted 24/7 preventing the usual weekly reports.
The conflict between the BPA and ARA continued today with fierce fighting on the Western Front. The UN representatives have been conducting meetings throughout the week with the opposing generals but all hopes for a peaceful resolution have now been lost. There was talk about a mutual agreement to ground airplanes, as well as supposed talks about a cease fire to evacuate civilians from the battle zone as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately the talks ended when both generals left in anger. Apparently there were some bad words between them which were taken as offensive or perhaps there has just been too much bloodshed already between the sides.
When the fighting resumed it was a hot morning in Alameda. Civilians, who suffered, the most in this bloody conflict were tempted to leave their homes and grab some fresh air after the brief respite. Unfortunately as the clocks approached 1200 time seemed to slow; the ground started to rumble, wildlife ran for cover and the terrifying sounds of war resumed.
Distant sounds of battle could be heard coming from the town of Drayden. As the rumble of tanks became louder, the civilians fled to the east, only to be cut off by another ARA blockade. They knew of their fate and stopped running. But then, from the North sounds of another stampede started approaching their position giving them hope of rescue and the will to resist the Alameda Republican Army. They thought the BPA was coming. Little did they know of what was to happen… A cobra flew past, its blades beating the air, knocking them to the ground. To their horror it was the ARA Airforce who had come to prepare the area for a full scale assault. From that moment the bloodbath was yet again, inevitable.
Further comments are not available due to the actions taken by the ARA and the censorship ban which has been put in place. The continuation of this brutal conflict gave the ARA the advantage over the western plains. Will the BPA save the people of Drayden and secure the news network? Or will they be forced further back as their war machine struggles to find its feet. The people of Alameda need them. Trucks have been returning to the BPA base throughout the morning one by one carrying the shattered men of the Bipartisan Army. The non-stop fighting throughout the night has taken its toll and it shows in their eyes. The wounded trickle in as medics fail to cope with the sheer numbers whilst silence enshrouds the base of a beaten back army barely hanging on. As the sun rose this morning the ARA continued their latest offensive on the Central Western front. The ARA have evolved into a fighting machine, evolved because they had no choice after suffering devastating losses in the previous battles. They proved themselves today as they dominated the battlefield and left the BPA in complete disarray. [ARA]5th-Sgt.Nemesis told us,
To get a better picture of the devastation I took a ride over Cap 3. The potential was always there. The ARA just assessed all its options to achieve destruction of the enemy first. Now we have started to make our decisions based upon that. No one can stop us now!
Times look hard indeed as the ARA continues its persecution of BPA supporters without mercy whilst many hoped the breaking of day would bring peace; instead the conflict looks to have stepped up another level. [ARA]4th-Cpt.Cat told us, “The start of the battle went like clockwork for the ARA army. We established a strong foothold in Zulu 2. The impressive 5th Air Brigade gained air superiority of the skies preventing any serious numbers of reinforcements by the BPA army, causing the battle over Zulu 2 to end as quickly as it started in favour of the ARA army.” Hotel Company of the BPA was completely outdone in every way by the 5th Air Brigade which had air superiority for most of the battle. Equally ARA armour rolled into the battle an unstoppable force whilst BPA infantry were mercilessly gunned down. Yet even as the BPA retreated they did not give up, they dug in, grit their teeth and fought on. The BPA fight on because they know the freedom they fight for is more important than ever, Alameda needs them and this propaganda video by [BPA]A-Pvt.Zipper5 showing actual footage of the fight gives us an insight into their army:
However the ARA insists they only fight because of all the wrong the BPA has done to their people, forcing citizens to join the insurgency. A bold statement considering the merciless leader of the 3rd Brigade, [ARA]Cpt.Russin, was caught on tape taunting one of his victims saying,
3rd Brigade’s duties are Classified information, what I will say is that we are well trained killing machines and we take no captives! All enemies are to be executed on sight.
Haggard tank crews on the BPA base willingly told us of their nightmare. [BPA]C-Sgt.Cornish Rebel told us,
Leopard tanks started getting a foothold around the south of the Zulu as their cobra would always be on our case. It didn’t make it a nice place to have a tank.
His thoughts echoed by [BPA]D-Pfc.Maxter,
We were unprepared. Practicing against airborne targets is not to be underestimated, that was my biggest error this week. I didn’t think the cobra would be such a big threat, big mistake!
His tank buddy [BPA]D-Pfc.Alan reminisced,
Riding in that steel box makes you feel powerful but at the same time very vulnerable. You’re a big target to shoot at and that steel fortress can quickly become a steel coffin.
General Scarecrow was too drunk from the after battle celebrations to comment on his victory this week whilst General MickD has taken to his bunker in a desperate bid to try and develop a strategy which could revive the hopes of the BPA. In his place [BPA]Maj.Willie released a statement,
Although we had to give up some ground to bolster our defence, we were able to eventually contain the most recent ARA offensive. I am confident we will be able to fight off any similar attempts in the future stumping our adversary’s ambitions for further conquest into our territory.
This is a brutal conflict and we can only pray that what is left once the fighting is over is worth all that has been lost. The ARA is now a region ahead and still their offensive continues.
