Here is one I did tonight for you, not that the water doesn’t look ‘frozen’ but there is a feeling like the water is still flowing in the photo? Yeah, well, that is why I went to the dam tonight.

I also got this shot with the debilitated factory or power station reflecting in the river.

After the shot, I picked a few I really liked, then I played with one using several photoshop actions. Here is what happened.

Eventually, I decided to try to use photoshop to get what I wanted.  I took 4 pictures of the same location and then used photoshop to merge the images.  The first try (and to my mind the best :) ) on the right, was done using the first image of the series at 100% opacity and layering the other three over the top at 20%.  In a full sized shot [LINK], you can see what looks like diamonds pouring over the top of the dam, very cool.

Next, I tried to use the photo merge tool that you would use for a panorama image, it was “okay” but didn’t really give me the feathering I wanted – and really highlighted my shaky camera holding [LINK].

The last test, I used the HDR merge, again, it didn’t really hit the mark [LINK] either.
